Volunteer Opportunities
There are many volunteer opportunities available at The City Gate with different levels of commitment. Volunteers can serve on holidays, once a month or up to four times a week. There are opportunities in both the day time and evenings to serve our downtown residents and homeless. Volunteers are essential to this ministry and we are able to offer many of the services because of the help of our volunteers!
If you are interested in volunteering at The City Gate, please review the following guidelines. If after reading them you feel that this is where the Lord is calling you, we ask that you fill out the volunteer application and bring it in during regular business hours.

Volunteer Opportunities
- Serving a meal (as an individual or a group). Involves working in the kitchen, serving food to clients, welcoming and seating people and cleaning.
- Sorting clothes for the clothing bank.
- Serving coffee and welcoming people during the day.
- Serving holiday meals, such as Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- Working in the kitchen:
Anyone handling food or working in the kitchen must have a food handler’s card. We strongly recommend all volunteers, whether working in the kitchen or elsewhere, obtain a Food Handlers Card. All food employees in Spokane County who handle unwrapped foods or beverages are required to hold a current Washington State Food Worker Card (WAC 246-217). Food worker cards are $10.00. To obtain a permit, you must complete the class either Online at http://www.srhd.org or at the Spokane Regional Health District at 1101 W. College Ave, Spokane and then pass a test. - Persons without health cards may load or unload supplies, help clean the kitchen or operate dish washing equipment.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING:
Please come in to pick up or download our volunteer application and return it to The City Gate.
An interview with the Pastor or Director of The City Gate will be scheduled at that time.
